The Person Behind the Mask
Have you ever watched a fencing match and just wondered who the person was behind the fencing mask? There are several characteristics that can mark a fencing participant. He or she is quite athletic. The casual observer might think that fencing is an “easy” sport. But the precise and quick movements show that there is additional athletic prowess needed. The fencing participant must be intelligent so he or she can calculate the next move and catch the opponent off guard. And, the participant must be aggressive. Fencing does not allow the participant the luxury to sit back and relax, waiting for the next move. The participant needs to take charge, move forward and attempt to win the match.
