A Cry for Alcohol Abuse Help By a High School Student

Janet and Gretchen were best of friends.  They grew up together on the same street, they went to the same schools, and they had similar classes at the high school.  Both of them were also members of the cheerleading team.  As cheerleaders, they noticed that there was a lot of pressure to conform to what the “leaders of the pack” said and did.  As a result, Janet and Gretchen started to drink with the other girls just to become more accepted.

After a year of living the party life, Janet turned to Gretchen one day and asked her if she knew where she could get alcohol abuse help.  She felt like she was in a rut and wanted to get some help for her drinking.  Gretchen suggested that she go and talk to Miss Mahoney at the student health center and see if she could recommend who to see for professional help.  Janet thought that this was a wonderful idea and went home and called the health center and made an appointment to see Miss Mahoney.
