Accident reporting
When you are in an accident you are charged with certain minimum responsibilities. The first and most obvious is to stop, then give aid and exchange personal information. If there is damage in excess of $1500.00 to your car, another car or someone’s property you must file a report with the Oregon DMV. Any accident that involves and injury or a death must also be reported to the DMV. The police officer’s report can not be used in lieu of your report. In fact you should get a copy of the police report to assist you in making your DMV report.
