It goes by various names — but the sound is the same
I am a teacher of music — and I specialize in teaching students how to play instruments that are native to third world cultures, such as Africa. One of my favorite instruments to teach them is the thumb piano, because it is easy to learn and does not require the student to learn to read musical notation. This instrument goes by many names: Mbira, Mbila, Marimba — depending upon the dialect and region of the country you are referring to, but it all refers to the same basic type of musical instrument. Another great thing about this instrument is that you can purchase one for well under $50 — which makes it a very economical way for parents to begin to give their children a musical education.
